Helpful Hints

It helps to find a balanced lifestyle remaining aware of your individual body's ability ensuring that you never try to over do things when your body needs a rest.   If you rest before becoming over tired this will help you keep a steady obtainable pace and reduce the chances of requiring an enforced rest.

However, rest is a very important part of your recovery process as is steady exercise to keep your muscles strong and flexible, reinforcing your objective of establishing a balance that is right for YOU.

Diet-controlled food intake is important since too much will cause weight gain in addition to that experienced by the use of steroids.

Some patients may also become diabetic and this will be controlled by drugs assisted by a healthy diet.

A Healthy Diet = High Fibre, Low Fat, Low Carbohydrate, Low Sugar and Little Salt.

Information on diets can be found in most G.P.'s surgeries, food stores or contact The Stuart Strange Trust who will be happy to send you one.

A Positive Attitude plan to achieve something each day, noting the level of your activity in a diary may help to show you how much you are improving day by day.   When you are having a down day look back at how ill you felt and you will find that you are having more good days than bad.
